Terms of Use

These terms govern access to and use of King County Criminal History. Visiting a page, using a search feature, or relying on any material means the visitor accepts every provision below. Anyone who does not agree must stop using the website. These terms apply to this private reference resource and do not replace the rules, fees, or conditions imposed by King County, Washington courts, state agencies, or any outside service reached by a link.

NO FCRA USE. King County Criminal History is private and has no government affiliation. It and its advertising partners do not provide a consumer report for credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act purposes. This is not a consumer reporting agency or private investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

King County Criminal History is an independent reference site. It does not hold official records, retrieve them for visitors, perform an official background check, or submit a public request or court paper.

Its content directs readers to King County court clerks, the Sheriff's Office, detention staff, Washington State Patrol, and the Washington Sex Offender Public Registry. It may also connect visitors with outside search services.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use must remain lawful and must not interfere with the website or another person. A visitor agrees not to:

  • Violate federal, Washington, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, harass, or intimidate anyone
  • Use site content for an FCRA-regulated decision
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Run scrapers, bots, or other automated collection tools
  • Disrupt service or keep another visitor from using it

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information reached here may not be used to stalk, threaten, harass, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate. The restriction is especially important for registry data. RCW 4.24.550 supports community notification for public protection, not retaliation or vigilantism. Misuse directed at a listed person or household may result in criminal or civil consequences.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

King County Criminal History does not create consumer reports, credit reports, or screening products and is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. A visitor must not use data from this website or a linked tool to:

  • Make a credit or lending decision
  • Evaluate employment or continued employment
  • Screen an applicant for housing or tenancy
  • Set insurance eligibility, rates, or terms
  • Make another decision regulated by the FCRA

An authorized official process should be obtained from Washington State Patrol or an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider when the law requires one.

5. No Legal Advice

Content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a King County charge, warrant, judgment, registration duty, or Washington vacation or sealing rule applies to one person. Consult a licensed Washington attorney for advice.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." No promise is made that:

  • Every fact, address, fee, or procedure is complete or current
  • The website will always be available or uninterrupted
  • Pages and systems will be free from errors or security flaws
  • An outside search service will return a full or correct result

King County and Washington records change as courts file, amend, vacate, seal, or correct matters. Site content is not an official statement from any court or agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to government portals, legal resources, or outside search providers. Those destinations control their own content, privacy practices, availability, pricing, and terms. King County Criminal History is not responsible for them. Review a destination's rules before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, site text, graphics, logos, and code belong to King County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to make a derivative product without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the broadest extent Washington law permits, King County Criminal History is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the site, inability to use it, or reliance on information from it or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to defend and hold the operator harmless from claims, demands, actions, costs, and reasonable legal fees caused by that visitor's use of the site or violation of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Washington law governs these terms. A dispute arising from use of King County Criminal History must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in the State of Washington.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A revision takes effect when the updated text is posted on this page. Continued use after posting means the visitor accepts it.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited, suspended, or ended at any time, with or without advance notice, including when use threatens security or violates these terms.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be narrowed only as much as necessary to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
